How to travel with five kids
I came across this article in the New York Times about “how to travel with 5 kids”. The article is an interview with comedian Jim Gaffigan. He shares a 2-room apartment in New York City with his wife and five kids. Yes, you read correctly – a 2-room apartment. Jim Gaffigan does the TV Land comedy series, “The Jim Gaffigan Show”. The show is loosely based on his life and informs much of his standup act. It sort of explains the 2-room apartments, but still I am impressed!
I am even more impressed that he chooses to travel with five kids and not just know and then, no he travels a lot! Reading the article I couldn’t help wondering, would I still travel, if I had 5 kids? I can’t even imagine going to the airport and boarding a flight with five kids. Try and imagine getting five kids ready, packing their suitcases and going to the airport, all seven of you getting through security and into an overseas flight.
Jim Gaffigan describes travelling with kids in an humoristic tone and it is so liberating, that he describes travelling with a 3 and 4 year old like this: “Traveling with 3- and 4-year-old boys is like transferring serial killers from a prison. You have to be constantly aware.”
