Isla Mujeres is truly paradise. If you plan to visit Yucatan it is a must do. The atmosphere is relaxed, the beach is amazing, the water crystal clear and the locals love kids.
We got there with a ferry from Cancun and stayed in the north at Mia Reef Hotel. The hotel location was brilliant being on a seperate tiny island connected to Isla Mujeres by a wooden bridge. The hotel was peaceful and had a really nice pool and great beach.
The beaches in the north east are perfect for smaller kids. The water is clear, shallow, no waves and no wind. The beaches were not crowded when we visited in May.
There are plenty of activities most of them being on or in the waters surrounding the island. Whale Shark Tours, Dolphin Tours, snorkling, diving, fishing etc. Unfortunately we did not get to do any activities because our boy had some sort of virus and experienced high fewer for some days, so we mostly experienced the hote surroundings.
From the hotel there was a 10 minute walk to the main pedestrian street. It had that special backpacker vibe with small and cozy restaurants and hostels.
There are no big supermarkets. Bring everything to the kids from the mainland. There is a smaller supermarket om the main pedestrian street and there you will be able to buy baby food and a few diapers, but the selection is poor.Share on Facebook
